Tobias Menzies Cast as Frank / 'Black Jack' Randall

Gentle and bookish Frank Randall, Claire's 20th century husband, is a professor of 

history with a deep interest in his own genealogy.  After being separated by the war,

Frank and Claire are rekindling their relationship when she disappears.

Dark and violent Capt. Jonathan 'Black Jack' Randall, Frank's 18th century ancestor,

is stationed with the English army in rebellious Scotland when he discovers Claire in the Scottish hills.  While the two men may appear strikingly similar, they are nothing alike.

Menzies was recently seen in HBO's Game of Thrones as Edmure Tully, the heir to the House of Tully of Riverun.  He is best recognized for his role as Marcus Junios Brutus in HBO's Rome.   His credits include The Deep, The Shadow Line, Eternal Law, Foyle's War, Dr. Who:  Cold War, and Casino Royale.  His stage credits include The Hush, History Boys, The Recruiting Officer, The Children's Hour, and Three Sisters, starring opposite Kiera Knightly and Elizabeth Moss, for which he was nominated for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award.  He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
